Areas of Focus
Holly has a direct style that is grounded in both presence and humor, placing emphasis on exploring client’s feelings and helping develop actionable steps to enable them to reach their goals. Her work helps clients uncover the deeper patterns that may lead to feeling stuck, and then she collaboratively works with clients to develop the agency and self-efficacy to move forwards.
Holly works with individuals, couples, and families and approaches therapy with a systemic lens, acknowledging the intersection between individuals and their family system, broader cultural systems, and social systems. She understands that systems can cause distress and helps clients mitigate and tolerate stress.
She has experience and expertise in working with people navigating financial trauma, such as financial scarcity and familial financial coercion; religious trauma, such as spiritual abuse, deconstructing religious beliefs, and purity culture; depression; and anxiety. She has further experience in working with people who are going through various life transitions, such as navigating caregiving roles for aging parents and young children, as well as people experiencing job loss and career changes. She works extensively with clients exploring their identity, including sexual and cultural identity, and place within various cultural milieus. She has received cultural competency training for the Jewish community and enjoys working with clients with diverse identities, sexualities, and backgrounds.
Therapeutic Approach
Holly approaches clients with curiosity, working to understand their history, perspectives, and goals. As rapport is established, she gently challenges perspectives, encourages, and helps clients develop agency. Holly provides an environment where the client can discuss any topic that weighs on their mind, while knowing their thoughts and feelings will be met with respect and care. She emphasizes that the therapeutic relationship remains central to therapy, helping clients build trust and confidence within themselves that they can apply to other areas of their lives. Sessions with Holly are focused on building upon clients strengths. Her approach helps break goals into meaningful steps that help clients feel empowered to find the path that feels best.
Professional
Holly received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Bradley University and her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, where she competed in track and field. She has financial training from the Financial Therapy Clinical Institute and motivational interviewing training to help clients move towards the changes they want to accomplish.
In addition to her psychotherapy work, she spent a decade gaining experience in the hospitality industry and the legal profession. She also volunteers at a therapeutic equestrian center, helping clients connect mind and body to reduce the physical manifestations of fear and anxiety.
Personal
Many of my personal experiences have shaped my views on therapy. I have reckoned with my own religious upbringing, family diagnoses of Alzheimer’s, and navigating my role as a spouse, mother, daughter, and sibling. I understand the power of shared connection and strive to empower my clients with care as they navigate their own journeys. I love having the opportunity to join my clients from a non-judgemental perspective and honor their experiences.
